Students may apply for a study visa at WWW.UNIVERSITALY.IT (NON-EU STUDENTS ONLY) until June 28, 2024. The deadline for International Admissions 2024-2025 for all other applicants is July 29, 2024. Students who are applying from outside of the country or have foreign credentials must go through a series of steps before enrolling. International students must go through several processes to enroll in one of our numerous degree programs, depending on whether they are already residents of Italy, need a visa, or have a passport from outside the EU. Although these procedures might be daunting at times, we are here to help you through them.
Admission Requirements
If you are an Italian citizen with an international High School Diploma, your title permits you to continue your studies at Italian universities only if it was conferred after at least the final two years of good attendance in the foreign education system.

- 4-year Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) corresponding to level 6 of Pakistan Qualifications Framework (PKF): Second-cycle Master’s Degree
- 4 or 5-year professional Bachelor’s Degree: Second-cycle Master’s Degree
- 3-year Bachelor’s Degrees (even with Honours) corresponding to level 5 of PKF: Must be followed by 1 additional year of studies leading to an Honours Degree of 4 years or to a Master’s Degree
- 2-year Associate Degrees and Bachelor’s Degrees (Pass) corresponding to level 5 of PKF: Must be followed by 2 additional years of studies leading to an Honours Degree of 4 years or to a Master’s Degree
Italian Equivalents:
- Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC): Does not grant direct access to second-cycle Master’s Degrees in Italy
- Intermediate (IEC) Examination Certificate: Does not grant direct access to second-cycle Master’s Degrees in Italy
Notes:
- The Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) and Intermediate (IEC) Examination Certificate do not grant direct access to second-cycle Master’s Degrees in Italy.
- Certain Bachelor’s Degrees may lead to second-cycle Master’s Degrees.
- 3-year Bachelor’s Degrees (level 5 PKF) must be followed by additional studies for an Honours Degree or a Master’s Degree.
Eligibility Guidelines for International Students
- To be eligible for a Bachelor’s degree, students must have finished at least 12 years of high school education; for a Master’s program, they must have completed at least three years of undergraduate study at an authorized institution in a related subject.
- All students must have at least upper-intermediate competence in either English or Italian (B2 level), depending on their program of choice.
- Certain schools, such as medicine and surgery, also need an admission test.
IMPORTANT: Please be informed that entrance to Sapienza University of Rome is subject on meeting all of the aforementioned conditions, some of which are beyond of the university’s authority. Remember to follow all the regulations that apply to your specific status (such as visa application, permanent resident, foreign degree holder, etc.).
